On Monday 3 July, Abuja residents woke up to the disturbing news of a deadly infection outbreak in the FCT. This announcement was made at a press conference addressed by the Director of Public Health of The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr. Sadiq Abdulraman.

In order to contain the spread of this disease which has purportedly already claimed the life of a four-year-old in Deidei district of the FCT, Dr Sadiq has called on FCT residents to keep their guards up and also immediately take the Pentavalent vaccine.

Furthermore,Dr Sadiq revealed that earlier in January, the presence of the disease had been confirmed in Lagos, Kano and Ondo state, which triggered a national response by the National Centre for Disease (NCDC)
