5 Myths About Diesel Engines

A myth is a common belief or idea that is false. Myths are mostly told in our childhood years, as such we grow up holding on to these false beliefs or ideas. However, there are myths told in the adulthood years and one of them we will be talking about now is the diesel engines.
The diesel engine, named after Rudolf Diesel, is an internal combustion engine in which ignition of the fuel is caused by the elevated temperature of the air in the cylinder due to mechanical compression; thus, the diesel engine is a so-called compression-ignition engine. The first diesel engine was prototyped in 1893 and has revolutionized over the centuries. With the revolution of the diesel engines came some myths that have either made diesel engines more favorable or less favorable to consumers. Here are 5 common myths about Diesel Engines.

Largest Cause of Air Pollution

Diesel Engines emit a large amount of smoke causing the opinion that they are the largest cause of air pollution, whereas, due to a large number of investments in technology, resources, and studies, today’s diesel engines are the cleanest. Mike Haws, the Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, told The Guardian that today’s Diesel Engines are the cleanest ever. He said the allegations against diesel cars may misguide policy making and undermine public confidence in Diesel, so it’s time to put the record straight.

Diesel engines are dirty

This myth came about because of the soot they sometimes emit, however, this doesn’t mean the Diesel Engine is dirty. The soot is a result of the internal
combustion process which requires a certain mixture of Diesel fuel and air and if the ratio of the fuel and air is improper, it produces soot. However, you can keep your Diesel Engine tank free of dirt and water by using Aquafighter

Diesel engines have low er performance

This is untrue. Many trucks are known to be slow, so people assume it is because the Diesel Engine provides poor performance. The weight of a truck as compared to that of a car is no small difference, the reason why trucks are slower. There is no doubt that many Diesel car drivers prefer Diesel Engine cars to gasoline cars the reason being that they provide the best power when the engine’s revolutions per minute, RPM, are low.

Diesel engines are old engines

At the beginning of this post, we talked about how the diesel engine has revolutionized over the centuries since its invention in 1893. The dynamism and continuous emergence of sophisticated technologies have also impacted the diesel-engine-making market. Noticeably are how the diesel engines emit less smoke and are quieter in this decade. Also, you must idle the Diesel Engine in the morning in the olden days, now most engine manufacturers recommend that you should not idle for more than three minutes before driving
modern diesel engines. Today’s Diesel Engines are not the same as years ago.

Diesel engines are expensive to maintain

Because diesel is more expensive than PMS in Nigeria, people assume it means diesel engines are more expensive to maintain and repair. Rather than not buying a diesel engine because you think it is more expensive to keep up
with, buy a Diesel Engine because of its benefit of longevity and durability. Also, you can easily maintain your diesel engine by buying RANDS Aquafighter which helps fight impurities in diesel fuel and prevents your engine from failure.

In conclusion, you probably think diesel engines are bad choices due to one or more of these myths you have heard, it is advised that you start considering using Diesel Engines if you haven’t.
